AC Units - Which Is Best For YOUR Home?

There are several types of home ac units available on the market. Depending on your budget, size of room, or construction limitations, you can choose between a portable ac unit, a central ac unit or a windows ac unit.

Portable Air Conditioning Systems

Portable ac units are great if you only want to cool a small area or bedroom and you have ample room to spare for the unit to rest on the ground. They are often more affordable and they use much less energy than say a central unit.

Window Air Conditioning Systems

Window ac units works basically the same way as a portable unit, but it is semi-permanently installed directly into your window ledge. This is a good choice if you don’t mind the appearance of an ac unit sticking out of your window. It is also ideal since you don’t have to give up any space on the floor like you would with a portable unit.

If you have french style windows, this option will not work for you as it is only meant for either vertical or horizontal sliding windows.

Central Air Conditioning Systems

Central ac units can only be installed if your have the proper venting system built into your home. If your home uses baseboard electrical heating, then you will have to either pick a different king of unit, or have a complete ventilation system installed, which may be very expensive!
